Using the streets and communities of New York’s lower east side and "El Barrio" as a backdrop, this award winning short documentary explores the rich history and vibrant present of New York’s famed Nuyorican Poets Café.
Using the café as its anchor, the program profiles both veteran and emerging Puerto Rican poets. Café founder Miguel Algarin is featured along with Willie Perdomo, Ed Morales, Pedro Pietri, and Carmen Bardeguez Brown. Nuyorican Poets Café provides a window into Puerto Rican culture and history as expressed through the voice of some if its most renowned poets.
